I Accepted a Job

Well I accepted a job teaching for a private college in Orlando. I will be the nursing skils lab instructor. This is good. 3-4 days a week. A long commute, but I am sure less stressful than teaching middleschool. More money and I won't have to worry about losing my job every year.

My biggest concern is the drive and being so far from the kids. I have been at school with Austin this year and it is nice to have him close. Here are pictures of him dressed for the "Dead People Project" in reading. He is Emperor Napoleon Bonapart. Costume by mom. He doesn't want to be in pictures lately so ever picture is a fight. Easter pics will be on

What if you don't like lemonade?

Life has been kind of a &*@$# lately. Between shingles, Izzy's busted eye, the state and country's economy in the toilet....now I have lost my job.

The school system is going to have a huge shortfall next year in money from the state due to lack of property taxes, tourism is down, and so forth. They told me last week that my job was safe and not to worry. Thursday I found out that my job is gone with several other's jobs. I have never lost a job in my life. I scored a 12/12 on my evaluation. As a first year teacher I only have to get a 10/12. I have taken classes on classroom management, I run on every medical call, and am wiling to help everyone that needs something.

The problem is as an annual contract 1 teacher, I have no guarantees. Only continuing contract employees have a guaranteed job each year and then it is an act of God to get rid of someone. I am not sure what I am going to do. I can drive to Orlando 50 miles away and work as a nursing instructor and be on the road all of the time.

I have had enough lemons in my life the last few years. I have made lemonade, lemon meringue pie, lemon chicken, lemon pepper fish, scrubbed my sink with lemon and salt, and added lemon to every beverage you can.

I refuse to accept any other deliveries of lemons.

Daddy Did It!!!!

Isabella said her first sentence on Tuesday. Buck took her to the lab for her routine blood draw (1 a month) and then took her to school. I picked her up from daycare and she still had her band aid on. Of course she had pointed it out to everyone. When I picked her up from her class she showed me her band aid, and said as clear as could be..."Daddy did it!". I looked at Austin and, Tashanna (the afternoon girl at daycare)and asked if they had just heard that, and of course they did. I have a feeling that this is a phrase that we will hear a lot of in the future: Who ate the last cookies...... Who said you could do that.... Who moved my purse.......... Daddy did it. The possibilities are endless. Here are pics of my little fashion plate. She has mangled these practice tutus with her constant wear and tear on it. I am glad they only cost 2.50 each to make. She is not allowed to play with the other tutus, way to much labor and tulle goes into them. Her sense of style is amazing.
BTW, the mommy, mommy, is music to my ears. For so long she would look past me calling mommy..looking for her "mommy". Believe me she now knows who mommy is!

A very hysterical B

My poor little B has been so out of sorts lately. She hasn't been the same since her eye injury at school. Her sleep has been very restless for a few days and tonight it erupted into all out hysteria.

Once Izzy goes down, she may toss and turn but she is out for about 11 hours. She might cry out in her sleep, or even wake up a little and laugh or babble, but then she is snoring again. Tonight her cries steadily grew into a wail. The wail became loud sobbing, and by the time I crossed the house to get to her it was full out crying.

It is so frustrating that she cannot tell me what is wrong. She wanted her brother and daddy (daddy was asleep so I woke him up). I gave her Motrin thinking she had an earache and some benadryl for her runny nose. She is sleeping now. I still do not know what is wrong. She has been obsessed with the China albums as of late.

We did go to the events at the market for CNY. She was definitely surrounded by people, sights and sounds of China. Have I triggered some PTSS by taking her there?

This is the child that does not cry when her blood is being drawn or with a split eye, but this cry from deep within breaks my heart and I wish I could fix whatever is wrong.

CNY- Spring Festival

Okay, this is a little late but Happy new Year and so forth. We had the sickie household again this week, the usual. The kids did get their cards and yes money on New Years Day.

We went to a large store called 1st Oriental Market today. The had Kung Fu exhibitions, Dragon and Lion dances and lots and lots of people. It smelled and looked so much like we were back in China. I was worried that I would have some post traumatic stress flashbacks when I saw the whole roasted piglets, and ducks with the necks still on, but I was okay. The only thing missing was Billie, Joe, Nickie, Anna, Will, Teresa, Kevin, Meggie, and Carson and my bottle of Xanax. In fact I felt very comfortable picking out some things for Izzy to eat and us and look forward to going back on a not so crowded day.

Then we went to the Taiwan Bakery to buy our moon cakes, some buns with cheese, and another sweet bun. The told us we can order moon cakes next year without egg for Izzy by calling ahead. I got the ones with the pineapple paste.

As usual the pics are on the http://boyandb.blogspot.com or you can click on the link in the sidebar.

One last note: Izzy who is three, is now in the full blown terrible twos. Throwing herself down to have a tantrum. I think she has learned this at school. I simply step over her and go about my business. Just don't let her catch your ankle, she can take you down, she is a strong bugger.
